Welcome to kerngov.net, the new Kern government portal! kerngov.net is a joint venture between the City of Bakersfield and the County of Kern. The portal will serve as a single Internet location where residents and businesses can get services and information 24 hours a day from the participating agencies, presented in a consistent and user-friendly format.

Current Portal Features:

• A multi-agency search facility. When you enter your search term, the portal search engine will automatically search the following sites: City of Bakersfield, County of Kern, Superintendent of Schools, and Kern Council of Governments. Results are displayed in order by relevance.
• Top categories of commonly requested information, organized by type of service
  rather than by the agency providing the service
• Contact information for major City and County agencies
• Links to other governmental resources

Future/Planned Portal Features:

• Audience-based links (e.g., links specific to businesses)
• Contact information for agencies organized by service/category as well as by agency name
• Geographically-based information, so site visitors can access relevant information based on location
• Increased involvement of additional local government agencies
